The art of polished plaster

CRYSTAL DECOR LTD, is a company created in the UK installing polished plaster finishes, making a difference in the quality of their work and their customisation.

Polished Plaster is a term for the finish of some plasters and for the description of new and updated forms of traditional Italian plaster finishes. The term covers a whole range of decorative plaster finishes from the very highly polished Venetian plaster and Marmorino to the rugged look of textured polished plasters.

Polished plaster itself tends to consist of slaked lime, marble dust, and/or marble chips, which give each plaster its distinctive look. A lime-based polished plaster may contain over 40% of marble powder.

Venetian plaster can be tinted or coloured using natural or synthetic colorants. The ability to tint Venetian plaster is especially helpful when a specific colour of “marble” is desired, or when a colour that does not exist naturally is wanted.

Marmorino Veneziano is a type of plaster or stucco. It is bases on calcium oxide and used for interior and exterior wall decorations. Marmorino plaster can be applied via multiple techniques for a variety of differents finishes.

Marmorino is made from crushed marble and lime putty, which can be tinted to give a wide range of colours.

This can then be applied to make many textures, from polished marble to natural stone effects.

Its waterproofing and antibacterial qualities as well as visual effects have also made it very desirable for luxury bathrooms and other wet areas. Not confined to interior use, it can be seen on the exterior of many buildings to great effect.

Microcement is a cement based coating for floors and walls, 2-3 mm. thick, with high abrasion resistance.

Due to its excellent bonding power microcement can be applied to almost any kind of surface.

High perfomance hydraulic micro mortar made from calcic cements and marble sands of different grain sizes, aside from other additives that, mixed with the above, furnish it with magnificent physical, chemical and aesthetic properties.

It is used to produce highly decorative continuous lining that has a cement and mineral-like appearance.
